Because product specialists at Sabian were designing more new cymbals than they could produce, they decided to make twelve prototypes and travel with them through the US and Europe to let real drummers try them out.

Portnoy

In order to give voters a broader platform, they put the contenders on their website and asked drummers like Mike Portnoy and Tony Royster Jr to play them so people all over the world could vote. The result was a huge election in which drummers everywhere could choose which cymbals Sabian would produce.

Air Splash

The Sabian Air Splash got a lot of votes at the last Cymbal Vote election, so Sabian wanted to give it a second chance to win, and that it did! It's a cutting splash with an aggressive character that really breathes. Its sound has plenty of body and depth too, thanks to the lacquered cup and 1-inch perforations.
